Mantis Blade

A mantis blade is a weapon unique to the Forest Halflings native to The Maw. It is a type of sword that has a serrated tip for biting into armor or insect carapaces, and gets sharper closer to the haft. The typical use involves landing a heavy blow that bites into armor, and the sliding the blade forward so that the serrated edge tears a path for the sharp edge can cut directly into soft flesh underneath. It has also been known to be used as a last resort ice pick to mitigate falls and bite into the bark of the tree. Mantis Blades can be one handed or two handed.
Traditionally mantis blades are made by interweaving serrated insect claws and the rare, sharp steel.
